Today was quite the mixed bag, cloudy and windy this morning, snow squall around noon and then the wind died and the sun peaked out just a bit this afternoon.
This morning there was a huge flock of red-winged blackbirds in the front yard. Twice I tried to sneak up to the front window to take a picture and twice they somehow heard me and took off. I did manage to a get a picture of some morning doves and brown-headed cowbirds. Both the blackbirds and the cowbirds are migratory, so it was a great sign of spring to see them in the yard.
To try and capture the blackbirds I decided to head out for a walk. I was able to find a few signs of early spring along with the huge flock of blackbirds. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a few long distant pictures, but I could hear them. It was so nice to hear so many birds singing at once.
So while I didn’t get the great shots I was hoping for, here are a few “signs of spring” around my area. Do you have any signs of spring where you are?
Lots of signs of spring here. The New Forest was bursting with life over the weekend most of it moss based after all our rain.
We still have 2 feet of snow on the ground here in Vermont. Your photo of the muddy road and bridge looks EXACTLY like our road… I thought someone had taken a picture of our road!
