March…Finally!

This time of year, people tend to get a little stir crazy. It’s been a long, snowy winter with some of the coldest temperatures on record. I know for me, Cabin Fever has overstayed his welcome. Today is March 1st and subconsciously I let out a big sigh of relief.

I know, I know…this is New Hampshire and even in March we get snow. In fact we are expecting more this week. Still, you can see the temperatures creep ever so slightly higher, the birds sing a little happier and the sun feels just that much better. In fact, March brings some of the biggest change in seasons we see.

It’s hard sometimes living way up here. We look at the rest of country awake from their long winter’s nap a little sooner and we want those warmer temperatures and melting snows, too. It will come.

Next weekend is Daylight Savings Time and I am really excited about that. It means that when I get home from work, it will be light enough to go for a quick walk up the road to the old church and back before dinner. It means we will see all the maple syrup makers out and about collecting sap to make that awesome New Hampshire Made syrup. The snow will melt…a lot. I know it’s hard to believe, but winter is no match for the longer, warmer days that are coming.

As the earth begins to awaken, the sun gives that little extra bit of strength and the snow begins to melt, my spirit will also brighten and I will be ready for another busy summer.

So if Cabin Fever has overstayed his welcome at your house, take heart. Today is March 1st and spring is just around the corner.
